Twice As Nice: Announcing Two ReEntry Milestone Celebrations!

SOAR Program Overview

OIC of South Florida (OIC-SFL)’s SOAR Reentry programs are elevating to greater heights! Led by the Miami Reentry team, they have been providing services to justice involved youth and adults since 2016 (2005 for the OIC-SFL organization overall). The focus of these programs is to implement a comprehensive career pathway to address the full range of challenges involved in helping formerly incarcerated or justice system involved youth/adults make successful transitions back into the community. The programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and are executed with noticeable success thanks to community partners with similar missions — to ensure program participants are provided services that will help them:
  • Experience positive opportunities to earn labor-market informed certifications, leading to employment and career advancement
  • Maintain long-term employment
  • Sustain a stable residence
  • Successfully address other issues such as substance abuse and mental health needs
  • Become productive, responsible, and law-abiding members of society

Milestone I — SOAR Young Adult Reentry Achievement Celebration

OIC of South Florida recently celebrated the career-readiness accomplishments of its 305 SOAR Young Adult (18-24 years of age) program participants at the Little Haiti Cultural Center. Thanks to the guest speaker, Henri Crockett, co-founder and president of the Crockett Foundation, the participants were reminded to continue to “fall in love with the process” of life transformation.
