— AT&T and Compudopt Provide 100 Laptops to OIC of South Florida

MIAMI, FL, May 31, 2024 — AT&T and Compudopt are providing OIC of South Florida 100 refurbished laptops to distribute to area residents in need.

In Florida, it’s estimated that 11% of households don’t have access to the internet or connected devices needed to fully participate in the online world, an issue known as the digital divide.

“In today’s digitally connected world, equipping students and adult learners with technological devices is a critical first step toward ensuring low-to-moderate income communities have access to training, education and career opportunities,” said Newton Sanon, CEO and President of OIC of South Florida. “By leveling the playing field, we empower our clients with the tools they need to open pathways that enable them to achieve economic self-sufficiency and sustainability for the long-term. We are thankful to partners like AT&T and Compudopt who help us fulfill our mission.”

This effort is part of the AT&T Connected Learning® initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.

“AT&T is proud to collaborate with organizations like Compudopt to help close the digital equity gap in Florida,” said Thais Asper Keane, regional director, external affairs, AT&T Florida. “Access to connectivity is vital in helping to bridge the digital divide, and we are glad we can provide these resources to those that need them most.”

The laptop distribution will occur Friday, May 31, 2024, between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. at OIC of South Florida’s Miami Campus, 5120 NW 24th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33142.
