Job Title: Jr. Accountant

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Status: Full-time

Division/Department: HR & Finance Department

Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for executing various financial tasks in support of the accounting cycle such as processing accounts payable using electronic purchasing approval system and accounting system, completing approved purchases using company credit card; bank reconciliations; support monthly invoicing, and assist in audit preparation. Also completes administrative tasks to support the operations of the Finance and Administration department.

 

The work is complex in nature and requires attention to detail and good record-keeping skills to meet state and federal regulations as well as grantor requirements. This position also requires outstanding communication skills for working with front-line staff, management, vendors, community partners and donors.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for electronic purchasing approval system including adding/deleting users, sets up/amends approval workflows, reviews requisitions for accuracy (proper workflow and GL coding) and complete documentation, uploads fully approved requisitions into the accounting system, and processes outgoing payments.
  • Coordinates with staff to purchase approved items using company credit card.
  • Reconciles monthly bank statements
  • Supports monthly invoicing process.
  • Assists in financial and program audits by pulling requisitions, invoices, documentation, etc.
  • Prepare invoices for reimbursement, record accounts receivable and bank deposits
  • Completes administrative tasks for the Finance and HR department
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • AA or AS in business administration, accounting, or finance required and two years of experience in bookkeeping.
  • Experience with Abila MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Sage) software is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and OMB circulars
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Must communicate positively and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytic skills.
  • Must possess the ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to research and analyze financial and non-financial information.
  • Ability to focus on problem resolution.
  • Ability to work with different levels of management.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
